Overton, Nevada (April 2006) Valley of Fire State Park - Valley of Fire State Park is located only six miles from Lake Mead and 55 miles northeast of Las Vegas via Interstate 15 and on exit 75. Valley of Fire is Nevada's oldest and largest state park, dedicated 1935. The valley derives its name from the red sandstone formations and the stark beauty of the Mojave Desert. Ancient trees and early man are represented throughout the park by areas of petrified wood and 3,000 year-old Indian petroglyph.
El Salvador (March 2008) While visiting in the area of San Salvador I observed this wall, complete with a homemade deterrent for trespassers. Proof that it doesn't take wealth to solve every problem. This property owner needed only some broken bottles and a little concrete to make his property secure.
Fullerton, California (May 2010) Laguna Lake - American Coot with her new baby. Coots are not ducks. They are related to rails and have lobed toes, not webbed feet, which allow for aquatic and land mobility.
Fullerton, California (July 2009) Fullerton Arboretum - Heritage House, the house was built by one of Fullerton’s pioneer doctors, Dr. George Crook Clark, in 1894. He built the charming Eastlake-style cottage to house both his bride, Edith, and his office. He and his family occupied the home for about ten years.
Westminster, California (May 2010) My attempt at learning to shoot multiple images and combine them as layers to get a great depth of field. The subject (tape measure) is not very exciting, but learning the technique is.
