The Pumpkin Patch

Image
We had a great time with Isabelle at the pumpkin patch. She picked out her own pumpkin, spent time in the bouncers, drove mini trucks, fed the animals in the petting zoo, and rode a few carnival rides.

Constructed in 1932 along the South Rim of the Canyon at its easternmost edge, the tower rises some seventy feet above the South Rim and is the highest point from which to view the southern and eastern edges of the Canyon. Formed in circular fashion just as the Anasazi watchtowers, Desert View rises some five stories high, nearly three times as high as any known Anasazi structure.

Your Unfailing Love

About this photo: Grand Canyon, Arizona (October 2006) - Arizona State Highway 64, north out of Williams. You can't let skies like this pass you by so, while Kelly was sound asleep in the passenger seat, I managed to retrieve my camera out of the camera bag, turn it on, adjust the settings and snap this image through the dirty windshield, all the while staying on the blacktop. Multitasking for sure!

You Inspire Shouts Of Joy

Image
About this photo: Los Angeles, California (July 2005) - Echo Park, Lotus blossoms in full bloom. I was fortunate to photograph the Lotus, which had bloomed in the park for more than 70 years before dying abruptly. Replanting is planned, but with budgetary problems, this may be many years away.

Image
About this photo: Carlsbad, California (September 2007) - Kelly and I spent our 25th wedding anniversary in Carlsbad. This is one of the sunsets we enjoyed. I had all my trick camera equipment, tripod, filters, remote switch, etc. Kelly whipped out her pocket point-n-shoot camera and snapped better photos! But, this is my page so you are stuck with my photo.

My Sister

Image
About this photo: Oregon (September 2009) - Okay, I woke up this morning and asked myself what has inspired me today, and the answer was easy. After talking with my sister on the telephone last night, I decided she inspires me through her strength. So, I posted the only photo I found inspiring to me today.

A Time...

About this photo: Joshua Tree, California (October 2006) - Key's Ranch National Monument, Ranch House Kitchen. The Keys Ranch is the prime example of early settlement in the Joshua Tree National Park area. Bill Keys was the area's leading character, and his ranch is a symbol of the resourcefulness of early settlers. The ranch is an extensive complex of small frame buildings built between 1910 and Keys' death in 1969. Keys pursued both ranching and mining to make a living in the desert.

Justice To The Poor

Image
About this photo: Sonsonate, El Salvador (March, 2008) - Along the beautiful coast of El Salvador, we stopped briefly at a roadside stand, where out of the window of our air conditioned van, I observed this young lady with damp clothing and out of breath. My first thought was that she had just come from the adjacent beach. What I saw next humbled me, as she resumed pushing a heavy vendor cart uphill with her young sister in tow. She was not there to enjoy the beach like a child should, instead she was hard at work for the family.

What Will Tomorrow Bring?

When The Storms Of Life Come

Image
About this photo: Grand Canyon, Arizona (October 2006) - A lone dying tree against the stormy sky over the Grand Canyon. To me, sometimes the less "pretty" things are intriguing. October is such a great time to experience the monsoons of the Canyon.

The Lord Is My Shepherd

Your Unfailing Love

About this photo: Bolsa Chica, California (November 2006) - A morning walk in the wetlands with some photographer friends. The sun shinning through the dead trees, but with a little Photoshop liberty taken on this one it looks more like a southern swamp or bog.

Stand On Mountain Heights

Image
About this photo: Grand Canyon, Arizona (October 2006) - This sharp looking gentleman was grazing very near to our trailer. We passed him on a morning stoll to the South Rim. I know the scripture references deer, and this is a Bull Elk, but I like the combo anyway.

What Will You Do

Image
About this photo: El Salvador, (March 2008) - This photo shows the spectacular salt water pool at The Royal Decameron Salinitas Hotel & Resort located on El Salvador’s Pacific coast, just 45 minutes outside of San Salvador. The pool is filled daily by the ocean tides, and it makes for a fabulous foreground to a sunset shot. The timely cruise ship on the horizon was a welcome addition to the composition.

The 93 foot tower, Oregon's tallest, is located on a narrow point of land jutting due west into the Pacific Ocean north of Newport, at Yaquina Head Outstanding Natural Area. Winds and rain have buffeted this lighthouse since its beginning in 1872. It took approximately one year, and over 370,000 bricks to construct Oregon's tallest lighthouse.

Where We Gather

Image
About this photo: Bodie, California (October 2005) - In 1870 the goldmine town of Bodie came to life. The gold boom lasted about 20 years and then slowly declined into the 1920's. In the 1930's a devestating fire destroyed some of the structures. The old mining town of Bodie became a State Park in 1960. This is the well known, and often photographed, Bodie church.

Show Me The Right Path

Image
About this photo: Nevada (April 2006) - This photograph was taken inside of the Valley of Fire, north of Las Vegas.  It is a remarkable place to explore.  There are so many different rock formations, and indian petroglyphs.  This is one place where many car commercials have been filmed (because of the long winding roads).

Love Is The Greatest
